Thrifted Blazer
Hey Girl Hey!

Welcome back! I pray that you are safe, healthy, and whole as we embark on yet another week of quarantine living. Although we don't have anywhere to go at the moment, I am believing and confessing that "Rona" will be gone off the scene just as fast as she popped up. However, that doesn't mean you can't prepare to pop out right?, Right! If you're anything like me, you've probably ordered a few items pre-Rona and now you're mad because you have nowhere to show-off your new Spring looks.

Well listen sis, let's go ahead and prepare now, starting with tossing that all purpose leather coat you wear every spring and swapping her out for an oversized/boyfriend blazer! The oversized blazer look is definitely trending and I just wanted to give you a little advice on how you can create a spring vibe using an oversized blazer. There are so many ways you can rock this look. I'm talking using vibrant colors, pairing it with a dress or with jeans, styling it with a belt, or draping it over a slogan tee-shirt; the oversized blazer is your new best friend! Keep scrolling sis, I'm about to show you how.

My absolute favorite way to rock a blazer has to be with a pair of jeans hands down! But of course, there are many other ways to rock the oversized/boyfriend blazer this spring. Embrace chic by matching the color of your blazer with the rest of your outfit, a natural marriage for neutrals such as cool grey or warm peach, especially effective if you blend shades. Try the jacket with a midi skirt and a tucked-in silk blouse, or pile boho upon chic with a bright maxi dress. Wear white with pastels, or pair with ripped jeans for a contrast of styles. Take note of the cream oversized blazer and matching slouchy trousers.

Conversely, go for a bold color above dark skinnies or skirt, and offset with chunky jewelry and sunglasses. Throw a denim oversized blazer over shorts, pleated minor jeans, slip on black ankle boots, and top it with a navy fedora. Reduce the oversized feel with a belt around the waist for a change.

Keep it casual with a slouchy blazer over a Breton, and add a tartan scarf. Warmth comes with textures, and a pattern in herringbone or houndstooth, for example. Make at least one item fitted or tailored, and mix in a blouse with a Peter Pan collar. Introduce a contrasting collar by way of color or fabric, and showcase the lining by folding over your cuffs.

Take matters further (literally) with the long blazer dress. Pair it up with some shorts for the extra ummph! You can also swap out the shorts for a mini, either skirt or dress. Also for evenings, dress the part in a tuxedo-type and chiffon dress. Wear an oversized blazer over a branded tee or a crop knit, and still have room for that fuzzy jumper. Frame a floral dress or snakeskin print with a plain jacket, or flip that with a blazer in a grid pattern, pinstripe, animal print or tropical design, over a plain top and jeans.

The oversized trend is more than a trip back to the eighties, so don’t just raid the wardrobe of the nearest male. It’s back for 2020, actually, it NEVER left, it just has gotten better with time. Now, I want to know how you’ll be rocking your oversized and boyfriend blazers once outside opens back up! Meet me in the comments for ideas, comments, or questions. Let’s Chat!
